It’s Friday and apparently I’m slacking off by watching Youtube. I watched this video about understanding Euro soccer and learned about “relegation,” the system by which a country’s bottom-performing teams are kicked out and new teams from the lower league are substituted.

This is exactly the difference between the NFL and a league that is genuinely competitive. If NFL teams were playing for their lives, Tebow would be aboard.

There is no incentive in the NFL to place a quality product on the field. Once an owner gets in, they just collect the TV revenue and provide whatever product they want. It’s a decent return for the owners but a disservice to the fans. Also, there’s always the threat to move if the fans don’t support a sub .500 team year after year.

    Great points

      Thanks, Danny. It looks like
      Yes 20
      No 2
      Maybe 8
How would you like to be the scout that whiffed on scouting the most decorated athlete in NCAA history? Especially if he turns out to be really good and throws a 100 mph left handed fastball. It’s hard to believe that Tim would not work on pitching while with Tom House. Probably more than 20 scouts will show up but 20 is impressive.

      • Sage says:

Gotta think the rise to MLB is harder and longer for a pitcher than a good batter with speed on the bases. Still it would be fun to see Tebow on the mound.

    • Danny says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tom House had a lot of influence in Tim’s interest in baseball. One of the drills Tim used to do when he was working with House was to throw baseballs into a net. Tim has a lot of reps behind him so the transition to baseball actually isn’t as surprising as one might think.

20 teams is indeed an impressive number. According to the article, a couple of teams looked like they may have flipped in their interest; it was widely speculated that the Rays would send somebody and the Marlins wouldn’t but it appears now the inverse is true. Regardless, some teams may decide this weekend if they’re sending someone out Tuesday.

      Two days away! Can’t wait.

Fyi, I just read (and presume it’s true without checking further) that Kaepernick just converted to Islam 2 months ago. Read into that what you will.

    Great links posted above, thanks.

  7. Bubbaelvis says:

It will be interesting to see how Chip handles the Kaepernick circus as opposed to the supposed Tebow circus. What a crime it is that Tebow is not starting for some NFL team.

    • Sage says:

As long as Chip Kelly has complete control, he’ll be happy.

    • Danny says:

      Chip Kelly weighed in:

“We recognize his right to do that,” Kelly said during a media conference call Saturday. “It’s not my right to tell him not to do something. That’s his right as a citizen.”

      Well, ahem!

Also, Blaine Gabbert might be the opening day starter?

Whaaaat? Tebow would run rings around this guy!

Yes bubbaelvis, the Kapernick and Chip Kelly circus are alive and well in San Francisco.

Sorry Chip, Tebow won’t be available to bail you out of this one.

  8. David says:

The Broncos have named Trevor Siemian the starter for game 1. Sanchez lost the job to a QB that has not taken a snap in a real game and has a 70.5 QBR in preseason with 1 TD and 1 Int.

    • Danny says:

Numerous news reports have the Broncos cutting Sanchez. More recent reports have the Broncos attempting to trade Sanchez.

Sanchez’s contract is for 4.5M, but if the Broncos cut him, they only owe him 1M. Still was a horrible deal for the Broncos to make, as we all knew out here at TZ that he’s just not a good QB and a cancer in the locker room.

No team (well, I guess there might be a stupid one out there) will trade for Sanchez’s contract. The Broncos would probably be happy to get a bag of footballs out of the deal. Any team that trades for Sanchez can kiss their season goodbye.

Sorry Mark Sanchez, I guess you’re “not good enough”!

    • Sage says:

Man, Sanchez sealed his fate with two fumbles in the redzone within a couple of minutes. That’s who he is.

It’s hard to have sympathy for any nfl QB in light of Tebow’s treatment.

Paxton Lynch will probably be successful, but he won’t surpass Tebow’s numbers in 16 starts.

    • David says:

Siemian, in his senior year in college, threw 7 TDs in 392 attempts with 11 Ints.
Tim Tebow threw 19 TDs in his first 374 attempts with 9 Ints in Denver. See the difference?
If Denver cuts Sanchez, they will be like Dallas, needing a veteran QB that can take them to the playoffs. The solution is obvious. The question is
      Who wants to win?

  9. ck says:

Sounds like a lot of good things are coming out of Denver…NOT!:D
