Tim Tebow stops by Will Muschamp football camp

Ex-Florida passer in town, watching family friend

Heisman winner said USC going in right direction

Leaning up against a goalpost Tuesday on South Carolina’s practice field, he surveyed Gamecocks assistant coach Kurt Roper work with a group for quarterbacks at a summer camp. He didn’t draw much attention and didn’t seem to want to.

Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Tim Tebow was a bit of a surprise guest on a sweltering Tuesday in July.

He was in town for a funeral nearby and took a chance to swing by and see a few familiar faces on the USC staff.

“Been around for a while, doing ‘SEC Nation’ stuff, I’ve become friends with them,” Tebow said. “Coach Muschamp, coach Roper, (strength) coach (Jeff) Dillman, all those guys.

“Just coming by to say hey.”

He was also watching a family friend, Jack Miller, participate in the camp at quarterback.

The two-time national champion, six-year pro and current SEC Network analyst had good things to say about the man who took over the Florida team he played on two years after he left.

“I think coach Muschamp’s a really good coach,” Tebow said. “I think he’s probably learned a lot from his experience at Florida and everything. I think that he tried to hire a staff that he likes and feels comfortable with. It will be interesting to see how they do, but I think they’re going in the right direction.”
