Football Outsider has discovered that Tebow was throwing deeper passes and was getting the yardage he needed on more plays than some of the best QBs in the league. Tebow is in the first graph.

“only four out of 102 passers have an actual FC (failed catch) rate under 20 percent”
    Tebow ranked 2nd with 19.1

“Rank them how you wish, but anyone following the NFL closely in this era will tell you that Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers have been the gold standard of quarterback play. All five rank in the top 11 for EFC rate, but not all five get there in actual FC rate. You also see some surprising names creep to the top: lesser quarterbacks who loved to sling it deep, such as Sage Rosenfels and Tim Tebow. ”

      Great find.

And I liked Rosenfells too. He made a few mistakes and gave up a lead to the Colts, and never got a serious chance again.

It’s too difficult for young QBs to break through. Second-stringers are selected not on their ability to ascend and carry a team toward a championship if needed, but on their perceived ability to avoid acute humiliation if called to play on short notice.

The NFL is not a competitive league. It’s more important not to be embarrassed than to make a serious run at championships.

Save face at all costs. Lost your HC job? Just be a coordinator for the next 16 years at $750K per year.

Tebow sure humiliated a lot of teams and coaching staffs. Speaking of humiliation, Weeden and Cassels went 1-11 with the Dallas Cowboys but have jobs with Houston and Tennessee. I guess they are good NFL backups that know their place and didn’t embarrass Romo or their opponents by winning.

Speaking of humiliation, Rotten Ryan had to be carted off he was sooooooooo bent b/c he lost to TEBOW w/buttfumble Sanchez no less, lol!!!!

          • David says:

Lol. They thought he was having heart trouble but it turned out to be indigestion.

    • Sage says:

More than a great find, actually.

I love the commentor below the article who literally edits out Rosenfels and Tebow out of the top 10 FC list. Blind spot much??

      • David says:

Yes, he raised the minimum attempts to 1000 to eliminate them. Brady Quinn once talked about Tebow’s low 3rd down conversion rate and that they were talking about putting in another QB to convert on 3rd down. But, he said that they realized that Tebow was converting so much on 2nd down that it wasn’t a big issue. When you average 15.3 yards per catch and 5.4 yards per carry like Tebow, you don’t make it to 3rd down as much before converting. Percentages can be deceiving.

Right about that Sage…even though they keep raising the bar, can’t stop TEBOW!!

Thanks David for yet another “eye opening” fact sheet that they would like to be hidden/deleted from the majority of Tebow supporters who are right about Tebow and his capabilities. With a 19.1 AFCR% he is better than the “so-called” ELITES who are behind him in second place…imagine that?!!! “Getting to the sticks is crucial”–WOW!!! This is why they are running scared b/c he has the numbers on his side along w/God!!!

Like what he said in the video: “What matters is what God says about me!” The paper didn’t mention God at all…hmmm!

Fox News talking with Tim Tebow about the new show “Home Free”

Someone had a great idea and thanks for the link, David. Used to watch that show “Holmes on Homes” and he also helped a lot of people when they were taken by crooked contractors and made it right! Glad to see Tebow keeping busy w/another worthwhile cause that makes a positive difference plus brightens someone’s day!

Tim Tebow appeared on The Talk. He got 45 seconds of applause and screams from the audience. He talked about the book, the TV show, and played a game to win prizes for the audience. Did he win? All he does is win!

That is another show I choose not to watch so, did not know he was on that program and thanks for the link without all the other biz, David. He did not mention God which is unusual and can only wonder what was discussed before going on show…He is very popular that is for sure and for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS!!!:D
      Always WINNING!
