I would like these findings compared to other pro sports athletes.

It’s much worse in the NFL than any other league today. BUT, there is an almost direct parallel. The NBA of the late 90s. It was called the thug league and just ripped apart for both violence and arrests. It was an extremely contentious time between the NBA and Players Association.

It was almost the spitting image of the NFL today including the way so many keep using as their excuse why it doesn’t matter, why it will never turn the Fans away.

At the height of the worst in arrests, 97-98 even 99, the NBA had its highest TV Ratings ever. Triple what they are today.

But Sponsors started getting nervous as they were paying more and more money to be associated with a league that was getting a worse reputation every year.

It began a nasty period of David Stern forcing the league through the single biggest make-over of any Pro Sports League.

Today, TV revenues have seriously grown, Sponsors are all over them and despite The Commish’s statement as many as 10 Teams are losing money (about the same number as NFL Teams that are probably losing money…on paper) the NBA is stronger than ever and set for growth that will have it chasing what a year from now will be the #2 league in Revenues, the NFL.
