PHILADELPHIA — What did Eagles head coach Chip Kelly like about the way Tim Tebow played Sunday?

“I liked the way Tim threw the ball,” Kelly said. “That was the big question coming in was how did he throw. He threw the ball well.”

Tebow completed just six of 12 passes for 69 yards in the Eagles’ 36-10 rout of the Indianapolis Colts, Sunday, at Lincoln Financial Field. He also ran four times for 15 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown run in his return to the NFL.

“You also have to look at who is in with who,” Kelly said. “There were a different set of receivers in there with Tim, than with Matt (Barkley) and Mark (Sanchez),” Kelly said. “And really a different line at times. There were some plays where you might say ‘why did Tim do that’ but the receiver ran the wrong route. He’s expecting a shallow cross, and there is no shallow cross. So what do you do?”

Nice to have Tebow on the field again. As usual, he was productive. If it needs to be a beauty contest, I hope he’s given the quarters and personnel that will make it fair.

Some say Chip wants to trade Barkley. Why not Sanchez? You figure there’s any market for Mark?

    Buzzy, et All,
Here is a neat link with a short video of post game interviews
from Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow..

“Tebow should make team as Eagles’ third-string QB”

I like Sage’s idea “why not trade Sanchez instead?”

I think Bradford, Tebow, and Barkley would be a nice QB line-up

Great links everyone. Thanks as always.

  5. Sage says:

Peter King says his MMQB will discuss both Tebow and Chip Kelly.

This reminds me, Chip looked mighty good today. His draft picks were making standout plays. Seems like a smart guy, and he deserves the capital to work with.

I HAVE A IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ASK DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY COACHES ALWAYS STICK TIM WITH 4TH OR 5TH STRINGS AND THE OTHERS GET TO WORK 1ST AND 2ND THATS NOT FAIR FOR TIMMY TIM WOULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH BETTER IF HE HE HAD BEEN WITH THOSE1ST OR 2ND HE COULD NOT DO MUCH WITH THOSE YESTERDAY BECAUSE NO ONE WAS PROTECTING ITS THEY LEFT HIM TO FEND FOR HIS THAT IS SO WRONG .HE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS TEAM .SO DO YOU THINK THEY WILL LET HIM WORK WITH BETTER PLAYERS THIS WEEK SO HE CAN MAKE THE HE DERSERVES SO MUCH .HES BEEN BUSTIN HIS BUT TO GET SO HE CAN MAKE A TEAM I JUST AND PRAY HE MAKES THE TEAM AND NOT GET SCREWED AGAIN A NFL TEAM

Chip may have just been sticking with decorum until he really has an order in mind. He could be intent on Trading Matt Barkley. Officially making him #4 could make Teams more likely to just wait, assuming he’ll be cut and available without giving anything up. Could be anything.

The important thing is he knows what he’s done and what it means.

While nearly every Media outlet wrote or talked about Tim’s “uneven” performance yesterday, they apparently didn’t listen to Kelly’s Post-Game. He was very happy with Tim. Made the comment, some might look at a couple of the Plays and asked “What were you thinking, Tim”…or something close to that…Tebow had different Players around him than Sanchez and Barkley and some of those Plays, the Receivers ran the wrong Routes and that Tim didn’t have the Offensive Line stability the other two had.

So even if nobody else saw a strong job by Tebow, unless they listened to his Coach, at least the Eagles Head Coach did.

This reminds me of John Fox telling Tim to “Beach” the Football. Foxy praised Tim for great decision making. Reporters and anyone looking for an excuse to dump on Tim just saw throws in the dirt. EVEN when they knew he was told to do so.

Can Win for Winning sometimes. 🙂

I said it before but I believe Tim has already made the team. Barkley has 3 years in the system, Sanchez has 2 so they should be ahead by alot but they are not. Take that and Tim is with 3rd and 4th stringers and I think he did extremely well for someone who has been out of football for 2 years. I also think it is Sanchez that will be traded. Tim will be starting sooner rather then later. Chip knows a extraordinary leader when he sees one. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the order of QB’s changing for next game just to get a fair assessment.

    • ck says:

Bubbaelvis: That makes sense as he wants to see who is going to hold up under pressure and it sure is not going to be Sanchez or Barkley and I seriously doubt Bradford w/all his injuries plaguing him every year!!! Needs to let Tebow finally play with 1st reps and watch him control the field!!!

  8. Kimhenderson says:

How would they trade mark because they would have to pay so much money because he just signed that big deal before Tim arrived they woul be out of a lot of money hard to see that happening?

  9. Kimhenderson says:

So what’s going to happen to all threequarterbacks

  10. Lynn B. says:

“After the Eagles’ victory yesterday against the Colts, a reporter asked Chip Kelly if there’s a particular set of skills he’s looking for in his third-string quarterback.”

“No,” Kelly said, before the reporter could finish the question. “They have to be able to do it all.”

“If you look at the box score, the answer is probably Barkley. Although he threw an interception because of a tipped ball (more on that later), he completed 12 of his 20 passes for 192 yards. Tebow, meanwhile, completed just six of his 12 passes for 69 yards…. ”

“But numbers can be misleading, so we went back through the game film and analyzed every Tebow and Barkley pass play.”

EAGLES WAKE-UP CALL: TEBOW VS. BARKLEY

You have to read this article that ends with, “At the end of the day, though, Tebow’s stock seemed to get the biggest post-game bump among the quarterbacks.”

Eckel, the writer of this article, Faved (On Twitter) an article I wrote “If You Don’t Get TebowMania You Never Will”. http://brandi.caresports.org/?p=1199

It might mean some of the Eagles BeatWriters are trying to get a better understanding of the “Tim Thing”.

    We’ll see.
