‘I love this offense,’

Quarterback Tim Tebow still has a long road ahead of him in his quest to earn a roster spot with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he remains confident that head coach Chip Kelly is the guy to get him there.

“I think he’s the kind of coach who plays to a player’s strengths,” Tebow said of Kelly, per True Jersey. “And not just the quarterbacks, but every player. He gets the most out of each player.”

Tebow will compete with third year quarterback Matt Barkley for the Eagles’ third quarterback spot. Not every NFL team carries three quarterbacks on the roster, but this is something that Kelly has done every season with the Eagles. Tebow is thrilled to be a part of a unique offense

“I love this offense,” Tebow said. “I love (Kelly’s) innovations. He’s changed how’s the game been played.”

It’s not surprising that Tebow is excited to play under Kelly. A traditional offense limits some of the upside that Tebow brings to the table as a quarterback. Tebow will cling to the idea that Kelly’s nontraditional offense can bring out he best in him. While that may be true, it still might not be enough for Kelly to view Tebow as a legitimate option as the third quarterback. Tebow will need to improve his mechanics and prove that he is capable of consistently throwing the football.

David O.: Like the post and what the fans stated. One said he had it on good authority that “Tebow will be the starter”…GO TEBOW!!!

  2. David says:

His reviews are getting more positive every day. Pretty soon, Chip Kelly may forget about Mariota and go with Tebow, the most successful spread option quarterback in history.
    Great interview and film here.

Buzzy Says : This is realy good best i have seen.

David: Thanks for the info. and you are right about the history part and agree it is “history” in the making too! Looks like they are already using what he has learned w/House and taking T2’s advice training w/baseballs. All good news impo!:)

I like the positive reviews Tim is getting. My only concern right now is that he is only getting 3rd string reps. If he is actually being allowed to compete he should be getting a chance with at least the two’s. It is still early in the process so no need to be overly concerned. I believe when they put on the pads Tim will start to separate himself and shine. No one runs the read option spread offense like him.

Chip Kelly supposedly likes big strong QBs. That’s the book on him though even with Mariota at Oregon the number of times they ran Plays that called for him to Run wasn’t as large as the reputation. (8 Rushes a Game including all forms…Option Runs, Scrambles, Sacks, etc.)

The takeaway by most of the Media…there’s a couple ornery exceptions…is the difference between Tim and the others in Passing exists but is much smaller than most thought/think. BUT the difference between Tim and the others in Athleticism and the ability to give Defenses more to have to think about is huge.

I think Chip has so much on the line with trading Foles plus a #2 Pick for Bradford that he’s backed himself into a corner on Sam that’s tough to get out of. But there’s no similar attachment with Mark Sanchez and I hear more Philly Commentators saying if Barkley shines it will only increase the likelihood he’ll be traded instead of released.

      • David says:

Actually, Chip Kelly can keep all 4 of these QBs by putting Barkley on the practice squad because he’s in his 3rd year. If another team wants to sign him off the squad, then the Eagles will at least get reimbursed for his contract but won’t get a draft pick.

        • David says:

The other possibility is that Bradford will not be ready and will be placed on injured reserve while Sanchez or Tebow start and Barkley goes to the practice squad or takes the 3rd spot. Kelly has a big incentive to keep Tebow in the top 2 because he can’t be used at all in the inactive 3rd spot.

Bubbaelvis: With that being said, it will definitely be ‘TEBOW TIME” and will leave the competition in the dust!!! 🙂

I saw one report several days ago that Tim was working with first string. I believe that they rotate.

      • David says:

Tim threw a TD to Agholor and I believe that he is playing with the first string. Agholor mentioned playing with Bradford and Sanchez in an interview.

NJ.coms Eliot had the same sentiment.

Currently there are 4 QBs with Timmy the other 3 are off to see the Wizard and we know what happens there. Each one had their own set of problems.

We could easily see 1 go down early…this summer and pre season and another shortly after the season starts.

I am not hoping or wishing it does but if history speaks I am a listin’.

    • Sage says:

Everyone is saying if Barkley plays well, he’ll be traded. But that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. And why not trade Sanchez? Is it the contract?

I watched almost all Tim’s passes as a Bronco, and the misses never struck me as that frequent or flagrant. Some of the drops by receivers were pathetic.

If he is missing a lot of passes these days, he might have been better before all the professional help. Unbelievable that this guy has been relegated to hoping for a 3d spot. He was poised to be the Babe Ruth of football. That’s a bloody fact. And he still could be if given a reasonable chance.

  6. Bigfan says:

Well if this all pans out for Timmy one could not write the movie script fast enough IF he is their #1 QB and the Eagles win the Super Bowl!

  7. TheMascotArmy says:

I thought you’d like to see a Sanchez ota evaluation from last year. Obviously being in the system for a year makes a huge difference. Also, could you imagine if Tebow had a day like this?

    • Sage says:

      Awesome point.

    • Sage says:

Also, I was unaware that Barkley has had TWO training camps with the Eagles.

You’d think coaches would be generally more wary of guys who shine year after year in practice. Battle testing is where it’s at.

When someone like Curtis Painter or Brock Osweiller gets to serve as backup for Payton Manning for several years, the media chirp about how great it is to learn and develop patiently behind a master. But ultimately this tends to prove worthless. No offense to Painter, but his failure to capitalize on such an opportunity was rather abject.

    • ck says:

TheMascotArmy: Priceless and wish T2 could see this!:D
