Tim Tebow’s Deadly Sin

The contrast couldn’t be more stark. The background: Two Filipino Brothers from other Mothers Tim Tebow and Manny Pacquiao. The Media Players: The Kapuso Radio & Television Network of Philippines (GMA) and Forbes.

The subject: Tim Tebow NFL

GMA Senior News Anchor Spotlights Pacquaio and Tebow, NFL “SuperStar”

Forbes Features Pacman and Tebow, NFL “Failure”.

The Denver Post ran a recent poll with 70% responding Tim Tebow should get a chance in the NFL. That number is low compared to most. But keep in mind, they smoke alot of pot in Colorado. Broncos Country is dealing with the fact Tebow was swapped out for Manning on the promise of Super Bowl Championships.

Did I mention they smoke alot of pot in Colorado?

When Tebow was with the Jets, polls in the New York papers were upwards of 95-97% saying Tebow should get the Starting QB spot when it had become clear Mark Sanchez wasn’t cutting it. The same papers that began the Season taking odds not if, but in what Week it would be Tim’s Team. But Rex Ryan is nothing if not a Quarterback Assassin. (Take note Bills QB Applicants)

I don’t blame Broncos Fans for trying to put salve on the wounds by giving Timmy what amounts to a low Vote of Confidence. They were the epicenter of the new Culture War in the NFL. But they also see the National Media having to do its own rationalization for why they dubbed Tebow a bust before he ever Played and were floored by his success in Denver. And even more floored by his growing Popularity no matter how many times they call their own audiences idiots for liking Tim so much.

I’ve described the NFL as the only Organization not behind the Iron Curtain to feel threatened by an Athlete’s Popularity. But there’s another comparison that has an eerily similar feel.

When Baseball Integrated.

Productive Players were transferred, shunned and deemed unworthy of Baseball at the highest level for what ultimately proved to be committing the deadly sin of being black. Nothing personal. Great Guy. But you just make too many people around here too uncomfortable.

Now many of the same people who felt discomfort then feel anger now at Tim Tebow’s shoddy treatment. And when you get to the root of Tim’s NFL misadventure, it always comes back to those “Tebow Fans”. Read, the same white, protestants, mostly from the South, whose ancestors turned 42 into a movie and who today consider Michael Sam to be the symbol of the Media’s PC PR Campaign.

All kinds of other bullshit can and will get spewed. But the reality is this.

Tim Tebow had amazing, record book kind of success. But we may never know if it could happen again, despite every poll done showing the Fans in overwhelming, crushingly overwhelmingly numbers want to find out.

Because one small group of small minded people doesn’t like another small group of small minded people. And that just makes too many people who could give the Fans what they want…to see if TebowTimeII is as much fun as the original…too uncomfortable. Or at least that’s their double wink off the record rolling eyed excuse. Tim keeps getting “advised” he needs to be less visible with his Christianity, just as from Sports to Entertainment Blacks were (and often still are) told they needed to be less Black or it would affect their careers.

I still think it’s just they don’t like that more people like him than them.

But that doesn’t change the fact that for Tim Tebow in the NFL too Christian is the new too Black.

Thanks David for all the great stats! It still amazes me when others say Tim cannot play quarterback, they truly don’t know what they are talking about.

The media always uses the stats of players all their stats, but not Tebow! It makes me sick.

Hopefully Kelley is truly considering Tim, all we can do is wait and see.

Let’s keep the hope alive, GO TEBOW, WE BELIEVE!

Hi David! Like the stats…definitely proves he is SB worthy and then some! Too bad they are intimidated by a WINNER IN EVERY WAY!!! BUT THEN, HE DOESN’T NEED THE NFL TO MAKE A WAY B/C GOD WILL DO THAT EVEN IF IT APPEARS THERE ISN’T ONE!!!

Looks like reverse discrimination is alive and doing quite well these days in SPORTS! What does that tell us about the NFL?…A LOT!!!
And btw, KUDOS, Brandi, for nailing it too!:)

    • The Major says:

Be careful clicking on “Brandi’s” constantly changing/innumerable websites, CK. Especially if you’re logged into Facebook, your email, twitter, etc. Seriously.

Use a proxy server while logged out of everything to visit his sites if you’re interested in his articles. Just fair warning.

The Major: Don’t do Facebook as it IS subject to “HACKERS”! And what about a “proxy server”…do you have one? That would take $$ and be a pain to set up, I bet!
