Take, for example, a fundraising event put on last week by former (and still aspiring) NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.

Schaub was invited to play some rounds of golf with other celebrities, and then attended a banquet afterward to raise money for some of Tebow’s many charitable causes. To some, Tebow may be controversial, but Schaub says that examples of the former Heisman trophy winner’s care for children in need showed him the type of man he is.

Recounting the Tebow charity banquet on his The Fighter & The Kid podcast on Tuesday, Schaub highlighted just a few touching moments from the night. “So, Tim was born in the Philippines, and so he always tries to give back, there. They raise money and build hospitals there,” he began.

“They showed some girl who fell and broke her leg and it got infected and she couldn’t move. She was there all day, couldn’t move. So, they opened up this hospital, got her surgeries, and she showed up to the event! Standing ovation. They showed her progression from broken leg, she can’t move or anything, you know, she was on her death bed, they perform these surgeries on her — multiple surgeries, and she showed up to the event.

“Tim builds these hospitals, and they don’t pay anything. It’s all free … I was about to cry.”

Schaub also talked about “Timmy’s Playhouse,” another effort by Tebow to help provide some fun and respite, as well as a safe space, for children in the United States who are undergoing cancer treatment; to play and get some enjoyment while in the hospital. And yet another Tebow charitable effort raised money to provide great prom and homecoming dance experiences for mentally challenged high school children, Schaub said, who may ordinarily find themselves on the outside, looking in during their schools’ social gatherings.

“So, it’s prom night just for them. Red carpet, all sorts of stuff, and he flies to it,” Schaub said.

Schaub clearly felt his time spent lending a hand at Tebow’s charity event was more than worth his while. The experience also gave the fighter a different perspective on the outspoken football player.

Like him or not, Tim Tebow’s good-guy image isn’t all smoke and mirrors. It looks like the guy puts real effort and money into helping those in need, and that should be something we can all admire.

Just heard a report the Ravens released a player due to DUI.

Typical type of scum that is in Roger Goodell’s NFL.

But no way the mainstream sports media wants a person of Tebow’s character in the NFL.

Makes you want to scream your head off.
