Everyone who follows the Florida Gators has an opinion on who the new head coach should be, including Tim Tebow. During his weekly radio show on Jacksonville’s 1010XL, Tebow discussed Florida’s now-vacant position, and who he believes UF athletic director Jeremy Foley should hire.

The first name that comes to mind is a guy who’s built an SEC West program into a national contender. No, he’s not talking about Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, but rather his arch-rival, Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze.

The first name that comes to mind would be Hugh Freeze – Tebow on who should be the new head coach at Florida

I’ve discussed this at length with fellow Gators. If I were going into the state of Mississippi to pluck a coach, it would be Freeze.

To succeed at the University of Florida you not only need to be able to coach Xs and Os, but you also have to recruit lights-out. Mullen appears to be more of a developer of lower-tier talent, whereas Freeze has shown he can draw top-tier players to a school without an elite football history. He’s been able to take those players and mold them into a team that can compete with the heavyweights of the West – Alabama, LSU and Auburn – in a shorter amount of time.

Freeze, in my opinion, brings a toolbox better equipped for what UF’s program requires to compete for championships than Mullen.
