What The Hell Was This Five-Minute ESPN Infomercial For Tim Tebow?

This morning’s Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN found itself traversing very odd ground as panelist Trent Dilfer presented a package on what a great job Trent Dilfer did at making new ESPN hire Tim Tebow awesome at playing quarterback. How awesome? “Tom Brady” awesome, if you believe ESPN.
It’s an odd turn from the network, which had previously finally acknowledged that yeah, maybe they went a bit overboard with the Tebow stuff. Of course, now that Tebow is pulling checks from the Mouse, everybody’s back onboard to throat the NFL flameout. Even ESPN personalities who have nothing to do with Sunday NFL Countdown chimed in to praise all things Tebow:
Hey @TDESPN. Nice report on @TimTebow on Sunday NFL Countdown. Hope you’re right and message to GM’s gets thru. #ListenClosely

wow. i am impressed by what was said. i sincerely hope that the ‘powers that be’ at the nfl teams take a look at tim.

    This article was poorly researched.

Dilfer did the segment to give us an update on how Tim is doing. He didn’t train him. Tom House did. Dilfer just put him through drills and did an assessment.

The sad thing is, there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of people reading that article and believing it.

What the heck are you talking about? This was great! And Dilfer did technically train him, which you can see in the video as he’s giving him instructions, tips, critique, etc. Although, it was more of an evaluation. But this is absolutely positive. Don’t understand the negativity. Thanks Buzzy for posting this!

Just shows how hard the mainstream media will fight to keep Tebow out of the N.F.L.

I love that video and now Dilfer. It’s a chink in the grouphtink armor, and that’s all that was needed for fair-minded GMs to take a look. McDaniels and Cleveland!?

Deadspin always goes to snark level 10 about Tebow. They’re predictable and conformist, and dont even realize it.

I thought it was a good segment. Given all that happened QB wise this past season (injuries) there is opportunity for Timmy to get another NFL shot.

Pleae don’t read too much into this ESPN wise…let Timmy be…God is at work.

Trent has become one of the QB gurus in recent years and very respected in the industry. Getting his seal of approval is no small undertaking!

I wanted Dilfer to go more in depth about his improvement but I did like what he said. Trent Dilfer has been pretty critical of Tim’s supposed accuracy issues in the past. I took it as him saying that Tebow now throws like an NFL quarterback so it would be worth your time to check him out if you’re an owner, GM or coach. The greatest college football player ever can now throw at an NFL level.

Happy New Year! This may be off topic, but Tim did great in his TV debut today! I just hope the NFL doesn’t forget about him.
