He still draws a crowd, but will he draw a team? (Elise Amendola / AP)

Tim Tebow officially became a free agent today, with all of the NFL teams passing up the opportunity to claim him.

Tebow, who was released by the New England Patriots on Saturday, cleared waivers, which puts him back in the same spot he was in when the New York Jets cut him in April and the Patriots were the only team interested in signing him in June.

So now Tebow goes back to waiting to see whether injury will create a need for some as-yet-unknown team. On the upside, he’s only 26, he stays in shape and his presence would certainly sell tickets. On the downside, he can be a distraction and, as has been extensively documented, his skillset doesn’t translate well to the NFL.

His talents don’t translate well to the Canadian Football League — a passer’s league — but CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports

Montreal lost starting QB to INJ, working with 2 rookies&recently signed Troy Smith. Won’t be calling Tebow but if he called they’d listen

I guess I am not surprised. I do thank Mr. BB for giving Tim a chance.

I agree shaztah. It was nice of Bill to give Tim a chance, I just hope Bill cutting him does not keep him from being signed anywhere else.

Here is the details of Timmy’s contract from PFR..

Though it feels like he’s been around forever Tim Tebow still hasn’t spent four years in the NFL. Which means that he will be exposed to the waivers system after being cut by the Patriots.

Which means that any team can make a claim for his contract.

His contract is favorable. For 2013 he gets the minimum for a player with three years of experience: $630000. Next year he’s due to receive the minimum again at $730000. Plus a whopping $25000 workout bonus.
