Jacksonville Jaguars Have to Rethink Tebow Snub Soon

BY James Folsom

After watching the Jacksonville Jaguars play in a half empty stadium in the regualr season opener and score two points…yes that’s right TWO points against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, one has to wonder why they have not called Tim Tebow.

Yes, we know Tebow cannot stand in the pocket and read a defense. Yes, we know his passes down the field are liable to end up anywhere. It does not matter at this point. This franchise isn’t just sinking, it is crashing down to earth at Mach III. They are an 0-16 team waiting to happen. They drafted a quarterback two seasons ago in Blaine Gabbert that we can all agree was a bust. They gave up six sacks in the opener.  Their only points came on a blocked punt in the first quarter and in true Jag fashion, the ball scooted out the back turning a potential 7-0 lead into a 2-0 lead.

So this begs the question, Jacksonville…what do you have to lose?

If you scrap the offense, install a spread and bring in Tebow, the worst he can do is go 0-16. You’re headed that way anyway. But with Tebow, every NFL eye will be watching and there will be twice as many butts in the seats. Tim is so revered in Jacksonville that the fans there might actually be happy with an 0-16 season if he was the quarterback.

Let’s look at some facts here:

1. Tebow has a record of 9-7 as a starting quarterback. That record was achieved taking over a 3-10 team in his rookie year and 1-4 in his second year. How many quarterbacks would love to have that record? If you asked Cam Newton if he would take 9-7 this year, he would say ‘Hell, Yeah!” He has yet to finish even 8-8 in a season.

2. Your team sucks. And your fans would rather do anything else other than watch them. They don’t buy tickets. They don’t watch on TV. Tebow is a guaranteed draw. So wouldn’t you rather lose in a full stadium in front of cheering fans? Wouldn’t you rather sell some t-shirts and jerseys?

3. There are several teams running a spread-type offense with a running quarterback and finding success. Colin Kaepernick ran the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl a year ago. Russell Wilson took a struggling Seattle Seahawks franchise to the playoffs. The Washington Redskins went to the playoffs with Robert Griffin III. So obviously the read-option offense has been successful. Who ran that offense better than Tebow?

4. There is likely no better leader in the game than Tebow. The Jags may not win with him, but they will fight to the final whistle. That’s a lot more than they do now.

Even if you install the spread, put Tebow in, and he never wins a game, at least your fans will know you gave it a shot. Right now, Jaguars fans are thinking the team will not call Tebow out of spite. Jags fans, and maybe rightfully so, are under the impression the team would rather crash and burn and wind up in Los Angeles than admit they should have drafted Tebow in the first place. Every day he is available and every week the team looks pathetic, or worse, apathetic, the more fans are convinced the Jags would rather lose without Tebow than win with him. Nobody is going to support a team with that attitude.

    Thanks for posting this, Buzzy.

It would be so fun to watch Tebow turn that franchise around.

Then, of course, we might hear the Jags had been a coiled spring, and Tebow was lucky to get paired with that defense. Ha. I’d just smile and it would be worth it.

“Then, of course, we might hear the Jags had been a coiled spring, and Tebow was lucky to get paired with that defense.”

Yes, they’ll say it was all because of the great defense, the great kicker, & the great coaching, & Tebow was actually holding them back. smh…

Sage it’s always something or someone else when Tim has success, believe me I know football is a team sport, but Tim elevates himself and all those who play around him! The Jags will never give Tim any credit, the Jags have said repeatably they did not want Tim.

I cannot find anything on the internet about Tim talking or signing with the Jags. Hopefully it’s not another false rumor like last time and turned out to be false. I guess we will have to wait and see.

    • The Mascot Army says:

That is a hilarious way to put that.

    • The Mascot Army says:

And then Tom Brady can be released and sign with the Jags, and it’ll be taken as evidence of Tebow’s not belonging in the NFL.
Although I dont think Kahn would ever dump tebow if it worked out-he’s listened to his idiotic coaches twice with piss poor results. It’s time for the billionaire to go with his gut.

I agree, I cannot find anything anywhere about this, maybe they are keeping under wraps. I could not even find the report on channel 47 or 30.

I just hope this is not another false report from a reporter wanting the limelight. Hopefully we will know something soon.

        • Sage says:

Ya. It might take a few more games, but at some point Kahn ought to realize his advisors don’t know diddley. “We’re going with Blaine!” ???

  3. Bigfan says:

    One more week…stay tuned.

  4. David Oliver says:

Tim Tebow Tim Tebow should be with Jaguars, Magic Johnson says …

This looks contagious !! Go Tim Tebow !!

Buzzy Says: David that was posted last week

  5. tawk2 says:

Still nothing I can find about Tim to the Jags, maybe it’s under wraps and very low key. But why would two Jacksonville tv stations report him being signed? I hope we hear something soon whether it be it was just a hoax or the truth.

  6. Bigfan says:

Well I’ve been thinking (trying not to hurt myself of coarse) if Timmy winds up at the Jags does he have a team that can with his help honestly turn things around?? I hope so!!

P.S. I would hate to have him on a team like David Carr had in the Texans where he led the league in sacks for somethings like 5 years!
Buzzy Says : They will need to install the Read Option and some I form hand off picth or keep

  7. LAC says:

It looks like 30 and 47 are related. Both station logos appear at the top of the Action News website. So, it is really only one news org involved. This is bringing up memories of when this same news org this to us last October.

Regarding the call to the Jags…is it possible that the person who took the call was just clueless and, so, decided to not say anything?

Thank you for staying on top of this!

Buzzy Says : TKS but i went thur 3 people to talk to the PR Guy He left me feeling Maybe

  8. Bigfan says:

Like I wrote earlier wait until after this weekend…then things could be more than rumors…”Oh what tastey morsels they are”!

  9. DMaynor says:

I hear all 3 of the jaguar fans dont want Tebow there.

    • ck says:

Now that is funny…had to laugh about the fans as I thought there were less than that!!! Think Governor Scott had something to say about the scenario which at this point is an economic fiasco to Kahn and this is the result? You never know, but if he wants to keep his team then he SHOULD LISTEN TO COMMON SENSE!!! TEBOW/TEBOW/TEBOW/TEBOW/TEBOW!!!!

    • The Mascot Army says:

There are loudmouth fans who dont want tebow, but their credibility is shot . Reading the comments of Jags fans, it is better now than in the past.
