There’s one sure sign that the New England Patriots are putting the Aaron Hernandez issue behind them and returning to normal—Tim Tebow is back to being the center of attention.

When asked the inevitable question about the Patriots’ newest backup quarterback on the team’s first full day of camp, head coach Bill Belichick said: “I think that we’ll use Tim wherever we feel like he’s best for the team, and I know that’s what he’s committed to doing, as well. Whatever that is.”

From early indications, Tim Tebow might be used in a multi-position role in New England. (AP Photo) He added that Tebow has “got a great work ethic. Great.”

When practice began, according to tweets from reporters on the scene, Tebow lined up at positions on offense other than quarterback and had passes thrown to him. Tebow also took snaps with the quarterbacks.

The Patriots, it’s no secret, are short on tight ends, with Hernandez having been released and Rob Gronkowski, still recovering from back surgery last month, on the PUP list and in danger of not being ready for the regular-season opener.

Belichick has always liked versatile players, which was thought to be a significant reason for his interest in Tebow before the 2010 draft.
